A new identity, a new story to experience
A new identity, a new story to experience
Hotel Blog
At the Van der Valk Hotel Paris CDG Airport, the transformation of the spaces did not stop at walls and materials. It continued through the words, the names, the very soul of the place. Plume, La Verrière, Le Nid, Nest… A new identity is unfolding, inspired by the Van der Valk family history and by a discreet yet powerful symbol: the bird… and its refuge.
There are visible renovations — the kind that change colours, textures, and volumes. And then there are those that transform the way a place tells its story.
For several months now, the Van der Valk Hotel Paris CDG Airport has been building a new narrative, aligned with its renovated spaces and the group’s DNA. Van der Valk hotels are renowned for their warm, gentle, almost familial atmosphere. A hospitality that does not impose itself, but rather envelops. The new names of the restaurants and bar needed to reflect that feeling.
Like a guiding thread, the world of birds emerged naturally. A subtle nod to the toucan, the brand’s emblem, but also a metaphor for travel, movement, and above all… the nest.
Plume: Softness as a Signature
Formerly Café Mirage, the buffet restaurant becomes Plume.
A light, almost airy word. A feather represents comfort, softness, the warmth of a cushion, the feeling of being welcomed. It also conveys a natural elegance: simple, refined, never ostentatious.
Upon entering Plume, this intention is immediately felt. The atmosphere is cozy and enveloping. You settle in effortlessly, as though you already know the place. The lighting is soft, the materials warm, the setting ideal for long conversations and shared meals.
But a feather also symbolises escape. It belongs to the migratory bird. It evokes movement, travel, and openness to the world. In a hotel located in immediate proximity to a major international hub, the symbol takes on its full meaning. Plume becomes a place to pause between two horizons.
More than a name change, it is a statement of intent: to place the Van der Valk identity back at the heart of the experience.
La Verrière: Breathing in the Light
Within Plume, one space stands out: the former Oxygène becomes La Verrière.
Its 90 m², entirely surrounded by large windows, offer total immersion in natural light. From morning to evening, the space lives in rhythm with the day. In summer, it opens onto the terrace; in winter, it becomes a luminous garden, a transparent cocoon where you can observe the season from shelter.
La Verrière gives the feeling of breathing more deeply. It invites you to slow down, look up, and let the outside in. Privatisable and modular, it hosts inspiring meetings, confidential lunches, and elegant celebrations. A space that blends clarity, fluidity, and intimacy.
Le Nid: A Confidential Interlude
A little further on, the former “Éclipse” becomes Le Nid.
A 40 m² room bathed in light, designed as a reassuring cocoon. The name came naturally. A nest is a refuge. A place where you feel safe, protected, sheltered.
Available for private hire, Le Nid is ideal for small meetings, interviews, intimate lunches, or workshops that require focus and serenity. You enter it as if stepping into a separate space — a soft, muted bubble within Plume.
Nest: Coming Home
The Apollo restaurant and the Cosmos bar now merge under a single identity: Restaurant & Bar Nest.
“Nest” meaning “nid” in English — an obvious choice in this new narrative. Here, every detail has been designed to create an enveloping atmosphere: dimmed lighting, warm textures, a soothing ambiance.
The Nest restaurant offers a striking contrast: a cozy cocoon opening onto the spectacular 22-meter-high lobby. An alliance of intimacy and grandeur, warmth and perspective.
The Nest bar extends this feeling. No frenzy, no excessive bustle. Just a welcoming space where you share a drink, a conversation, a suspended moment. A place to reconnect — whether with family, friends, or colleagues.
Nest’s modular spaces can host coffee breaks, business lunches, and professional cocktails while preserving this warm signature. Flexibility and comfort no longer oppose one another — they coexist naturally.
A Renewed Coherence
Plume. La Verrière. Le Nid. Nest.
These names were not chosen at random. They tell a story — that of a renovated hotel seeking not only to modernise its spaces, but to affirm its identity. That of a family home where you travel, breathe, and immediately feel welcomed.
In this universe, the toucan is never far away. It hovers as a discreet symbol, reminding us that every stay, every meal, every shared moment belongs to the same promise: sincere and heartfelt hospitality.
